Introduce Yourself To Maine With a Hike

To hike in Maine is to introduce yourself to our state, one step at a time. You breathe in the salt as you round a corner in Acadia National Park, or hoist yourself up a steep pitch on a mountain in western Maine. Everything is slow, deliberate and linked with the land.

In State & National Parks

There are great hikes throughout Maine, on federal lands like Acadia, in state parks such as Mt. Blue and along the East Coast’s longest walk, the Appalachian Trail.

Go Kayaking In Maine

Many places in the country have been dubbed a “paddler’s paradise,” but Maine’s Lakes and Mountains region truly lives up to the name.

The glaciated landscape is dotted with a couple thousand lakes and ponds connected by thousands of miles of rivers and streams that offer boaters a lifetime of watery adventures. Paddlers discover adventure, solitude, and camaraderie on Maine’s waterways. Plus, they experience the pleasure of raw nature and the joy of dipping a paddle in a clear pond that reflects the sky, clouds, and mountains.

West Forks, Maine

The West Forks in Maine is where the Dead River and the Kennebec River meet, and this intersection of two powerful rivers has created one of the best areas for whitewater rafting in the region. Situated along the Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway, The West Forks is also in the heart of Maine’s premiere snowmobiling country and provides easy access to Maine’s interconnected trail system (ITS), which has hundreds of miles of well-marked trails through the wilderness, perfect for wildlife watching and enjoying the gorgeous scenery.
